Italian summer: Dolce vita with a citrus twist

A vibrant Sicilian afternoon: Maximum workshops and delicious food, zero pressure.

Everyone was already in a vacation mood, and a jam-packed agenda would have felt like extra work: guests simply didn't want to be micromanaged. The client envisioned a summer *dolce vita* — the sweet life built on simple pleasures: sunshine, shade, great food, unhurried conversations, and a glass of something bubbly. We took this concept literally, designing the day around that bright, lemon-filled sunshine mood rather than a rigid schedule.

An authentic atmosphere and natural decor

From the moment guests arrived, they were greeted not by a playlist, but by live acoustic guitar setting a relaxed rhythm. We brought the venue to life with citrus and olive trees, baskets of ripe lemons, traditional ceramics, and lush greenery. The decor relied on authentic textures: fragrant herbs, fresh flowers, woven baskets, wooden crates, and warm textiles. Lemons served as the central motif throughout the day — transformed into juice, limoncello, coffee, soap, pasta, and even the evening's own "currency" in the form of stickers.

A piazza, a market, and three food bars

We filled the venue with citrus and olive trees, lemon baskets, traditional ceramics, and hanging greenery over covered areas. To prevent queues and make food selection feel like a casual street stroll rather than a standard buffet line, we separated the dining into three distinct stations: a pasta bar, a seafood bar, and a pizza bar. An Italian market served as its own dedicated hub, featuring fragrant lemons, fresh sauces, crispy ciabatta, antipasti, extra virgin olive oil tastings. Guests could spend their earned stickers right there. Nearby, a dessert bar offered panna cotta, cannoli, and tiramisu, while a mobile gelato cart served summer flavors.

Hands-on crafts and lively entertainment

We focused the entertainment on interactive workshops, offering something traditional games can't: a memorable keepsake to take home. Guests crafted citrus and herbal soaps, infused their own olive oil, and tried their hand at painting. A wine casino offered a blind tasting game featuring wines from various Italian regions. The format proved naturally social — guests gathered around the table, debating what was in their glass, laughing, and connecting effortlessly.

Results

Guests spent the day just as they would on a real vacation: free from forced schedules, yet with plenty to explore. Soft gamification gave everyone a natural reason to discover every corner of the venue, and the family-friendly format was a complete success — employees brought their children and stayed until late evening. We proved how thoughtful production and aesthetics can create an experience that lingers long after the day ends. And after all, isn't that true dolce vita?
