Spark the past: A town from the past for future inspiration

How 1950s aesthetics turned into an immersive world featuring a picnic and dancing to John Newman

We love clients who bring a challenge — those who want more than just a typical show and know how to convey their brand's transformation and forward movement through pure aesthetics. In our case, the look into the future pointed to the past: a big American picnic packed with joy, life, Elvis songs, and the belief that the American dream is achievable if you are ready to drive your own luck.

A gas station, a barbershop, and a laundry

Mara Studio managed the project end to end: concept, design, production, and execution on-site. We weren't just decorating; we built an old-meets-new town on a massive lawn, creating an immersive 1950s experience:

  • A vintage gas station with fuel pumps served cocktails as the evening's "fuel" (Refill Station);
  • A beauty salon with hair dryers, old-school tiles, and a license plate wall doubled as a throwback photo zone;
  • Meal Stop offered classic American BBQ picnic bites;
  • A retro car served as a central feature, acting as an interactive decor piece that elevated the stage design.

A couple of months and... 700 happy guests

The real highlight of the project wasn't just the stage design or decor, but our adaptability. In just a couple of months, the initial idea shifted, expanded, and scaled up — adding new zones and a talent lineup ranging from an Elton John tribute to John Newman. This is the kind of project where an agency is tested not just by creativity, but by its ability to manage deadlines, budgets, and the client's peace of mind all at once. Over 700 guests experienced a seamless event — which is exactly what clients pay for.

Results

We believed this dream town would make a splash, but the outcome exceeded all expectations. Guests stayed engaged throughout, the event ran without a hitch, and every detail served the client's goals. For us, this project wasn't about 1950s nostalgia — it was about concept precision and creative storytelling that delivers clear messages with ease, both in scale and detail. Reimagining the past to create something new: isn't that how whole new worlds are born?
